We all experience fear from time to time. It is our primal instinct to protect ourselves from danger. However, it becomes more of a problem when the brain sounds off the alarm more often than what is necessary. When this happens, it is said that our body stays in "heightened" state and the cortisol hormone is at its peak.

Cortisol is the stress hormone responsible for the "fight or flight" response. Chronic stress has shown to keep cortisol high in the body, leading to adrenal fatigue, stress, burnout, and, -you guessed it, anxiety!

Incorporating coping strategies and relaxation throughout your week (and DAY!), can help to reduce the level of cortisol, producing a calmer mind and body.

Certain thinking patterns or distortions can also play a role in how we interpret stress. It's important to address this as well! By fully understanding what is going on in the body and in the mind, you can find relief.
